Sometimes all one needs is a little inspiration

'Dude, which way to the spin art booth?' -- Male half of a stoner couple stumbling out of the beer garden.

An oldie but goodie overheard by Neal Lambert in 1986.

Everybody's a critic

'It's overexposed!' -- One middle-aged woman to another in front of a photo in the Fine Arts building. She sniffs and moves on to bestow her opinion on the next piece.

The photograph was by Minneapolis photographer Alec Soth, one of the hottest photographers in the country and a star of the recent Whitney biennial show, who is exhibited internationally including this past year at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

OK, here's what you do...

Do you have a tip that could help a Fair newbie or veteran better enjoy the Great Minnesota Get Together? Is there something new this year that others should know about before they go? Spread the word by clicking on the comments link below and posting your advice or great discovery.

Overheard on Dan Patch Ave.

Did you hear a funny, insightful or just plain bizarre comment while at the Fair? Did someone say something that made you think "You're not from around here, are you?" Did your child say the darndest thing in the cattle barn? Well this is the place to share it. Click on the comments link below to tell us what you heard or to listen in on what others have reported.
